Fall Basket Letter

Dear Parents,

For the Fall Festival at Oakland, our class has been asked to make a basket for the silent auction.  The theme for our class basket is “Gardening.”  To help out with the purchase/creation of the basket, I am asking for your help!  We need gardening supplies to fill our basket!  You can purchase these supplies, or send in money (cash) with your student to help cover the cost of the class basket.

Some items that would be useful for our basket are:

  • Gardening gloves
  • Small clay pots
  • Seed packets
  • Plant starter kits
  • Trowel/small rake
  • Twine string
  • Bug Spray
  • A gardening hat
  • Watering can/pail

If you would rather bring in money (cash) to help, please send in any amount you can afford, $5-$10 would be a great start. Please indicate below how you want to help our class for the OES Fall Festival silent auction basket. J Don’t forget to check out our basket when you visit the festival later this month!

Thanks,

Ms. Eckroth & Class

Please return the bottom half of your letter with the item or money you are donating by Tuesday, Oct. 14. Thank you so much for your help and support for our class!

Addition Strategies

We are learning some strategies for adding numbers.  We are focusing on numbers that need to be regrouped when addition is done to the numbers.  Students glued the following page in their Math Journal for you to look at to help with their homework.

If you do not have a QR code reader, please use the following link to get to the ShowMe video to explain the strategies we are using in the classroom. http://www.showme.com/sh/?h=o7l9gXI

Please let me know if you have any questions about how to get to the video!

Sea Turtles

Since our class has spent a lot of time studying Loggerhead Sea Turtles (the SC state turtle) for our PBL unit, I am excited to show you a precious look at these amazing creatures as they begin their journey.  In the video, some wildlife caretakers are taking the turtles as they come out of the nest to move the babies to a better location allowing them to have the best chance of survival.  Enjoy!

Habitat Collaborative Stations

Today, the students researched habitats. They researched these habitats and wrote a short sentence about what they noticed, learned, or a fun fact about it.

It is ironic that water was spilled all over our ocean habitat page!
